Now, let's get down to business. When we talk about Doc, it's hard not to admire his relentless pursuit of improvement. Just two years back, he took the reins of the Heavy Metal Nova, and let's be real, it wasn't exactly built for the demands of NPK racing. But here's the thing about Doc – he's not one to back down from a challenge.

Initially, the Heavy Metal Nova was more of a bracket car, not exactly primed for the lightning-fast ETs needed to stay competitive in NPK. And let's not even mention the power struggles – that screw-blown Hemi was a force to be reckoned with, but harnessing its potential was a whole other ball game.

Fast forward to today, and Doc's journey has been nothing short of awe-inspiring. Sure, he may have lost a few rounds, like his recent showdown with Jim, but let's give credit where it's due – Doc had Jim sweating bullets before they even hit the 330. His 60-foot times? Solid. 330? Not too shabby. But it's that final stretch where Doc's been feeling the weight – literally. The Heavy Metal Nova's tipping the scales a tad heavier than NPK rules allow, hindering its full potential.

But here's the kicker – Doc's not one to sit idle. He's all about that hustle, constantly seeking ways to push the envelope. Case in point: his latest upgrade – swapping out the 10-inch rear end housing for an 11-inch beast from Marty Marland. It's these incremental tweaks that could spell the difference between victory and defeat in the unforgiving world of NPK racing.

And let's not forget, Doc's not putting all his eggs in one basket. Oh no, he's got a trick up his sleeve – a brand-spanking-new Monte Carlo, years in the making. Word on the street is, it's NPK-ready and raring to go. But until then, Doc's doubling down on the Heavy Metal Nova, determined to squeeze every last drop of performance out of it.

So, what's next for Doc? Well, all eyes are on New York this weekend as he gears up for another shot at glory. Can he clinch that elusive win and kick off the championship in style? Only time will tell. But one thing's for sure – Doc's not one to back down from a challenge, and with each upgrade, he's inching ever closer to NPK greatness.
