Updated: Jul 7, 2023

"Daddy Dave" Comstock, a beloved figure among Street Outlaws fans, celebrated a well-deserved triumph on Saturday night at the No Prep Kings event held in Bowling Green, Kentucky. This victory marked a significant milestone in his career, as it was his first-ever win in the series. In a thrilling showdown, Comstock found himself in the final round for only the second time, where he skillfully maneuvered his ProCharger/Hemi-powered Audi S5 to victory against his fierce competitor, Nate Sayler. The hard-earned win not only rewarded Comstock with a prize of $40,000 but also contributed valuable points to both his individual Great 8 and team championship standings, bolstering his position in the highly competitive racing landscape.

Despite facing early eliminations in the previous "No Prep Kings" events in Virginia and Minnesota, Comstock faced yet another challenge in his quest for victory. He had to fight his way into the invitational event on Saturday, and his weekend in Kentucky initially seemed doomed when a broken rearend during his lone test run on Friday evening left him sidelined. Helplessly, he watched as his opponent, Tim Brown, secured a solo win and an automatic invitational bid. However, fate took a favorable turn for Comstock when he was selected, along with one other driver, to fill the remaining spots in Saturday's main event. Determined not to be deterred, Comstock and his team worked tirelessly to build a replacement rearend overnight, which was successfully delivered to the racetrack just in time for the opening round on Saturday. This turn of events set the stage for an exhilarating comeback as Comstock embraced the fresh opportunity to showcase his skills on the track.

With FuelTech's skilled technician, Luis de Leon, providing valuable input throughout the weekend, Comstock showcased his racing prowess by triumphing over formidable opponents. He emerged victorious in thrilling battles against Joe "Dominator" Woods, David Gates, Justin Swanstrom, and Scott Taylor, paving his way to the highly anticipated final showdown. Comstock's journey to the ultimate stage of the competition was a testament to his skill, strategy, and determination to come out on top.

Daddy Dave's path to triumph was truly remarkable. Despite facing initial obstacles due to financial constraints that threatened his participation in the Invitational, destiny intervened during the racer weigh-in. By drawing a fortunate chip, he secured a coveted position in the race and seized the opportunity with unwavering resolve.

Securing the victory propelled Daddy Dave's individual standings, bringing him into a tie for 10th place. In the highly competitive Great 8, he also found himself tied for 8th position. However, the significance of his win extended beyond personal achievements. As the captain of his team, Daddy Dave's triumph resulted in a thrilling deadlock with Kye Kelley's team at the summit of the team leaderboard. The intense rivalry between the two squads sets the stage for an exhilarating showdown at the upcoming event at New England Dragway in Epping, New Hampshire. With this win, Daddy Dave has not only elevated his own standings but also positioned his team for a fierce battle as the season progresses, with a total of 14 races yet to come.
