Shawn Ellington, a name well-known in the Street Outlaws community, is gearing up for another exciting competition as he prepares to race his Pro Mod at the Midwest Drag Racing Series on April 11-12 at XRP. Since debuting his latest setup back in December, fans have been eagerly watching his progress, and now, he's ready to prove what his car can do on the big stage.

The Pro Mod: A Beast on the Track

Shawn’s Pro Mod, known as "Blue," is an absolute powerhouse. Sporting a twin-turbo Pro Line Hemi engine, this machine is built for speed and performance. It’s one of the most powerful setups in the game, featuring a lockup transmission that helps maximize its potential. While the car has already demonstrated its capabilities—clocking an impressive 3.64-second pass at 219 mph in the eighth-mile—Shawn and his team are still working on fine-tuning its performance.

Despite some struggles in early competitions like the World Series of Pro Mod and the U.S. Street Nationals, where qualifying proved to be a challenge, Sean remains optimistic. Learning a new setup takes time, and dialing in a Pro Mod to be consistently fast is no small feat. However, with each pass, they are getting closer to unlocking the full potential of this beast.

What to Expect at XRP

With the Midwest Drag Racing Series coming up, all eyes will be on Sean and the 187 Custom Crew to see if they can make their mark. Given their recent progress, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them not only qualify but also be competitive against some of the toughest Pro Mod racers in the field. Turbo combinations can be tricky, even on a well-prepped track, but once they’re dialed in, they can be nearly unbeatable.

April won’t be the only major event on Shawn’s schedule, either. In May, Speed Promotions kicks off its season, with the first race set for May 7 in California. Later in the year, there’s the Drag Illustrated World Series of Pro Mod and other major Pro Mod events where Sean has hinted at making appearances.

Looking Ahead

2024 is shaping up to be an action-packed year for Shawn Ellington and his Pro Mod journey. With more seat time, testing, and adjustments, the 187 Custom Crew is inching closer to making "Blue" a dominant force in the Pro Mod world. Fans of Street Outlaws and high-horsepower racing will definitely want to keep an eye on Sean as he takes on some of the best in the business.

Will we see Shawn take home a big win this year? Only time will tell, but one thing is for sure—he’s got the car, the team, and the drive to make it happen. Stay tuned to StreetOutlawsTalks.com for the latest updates and race results!
