When it comes to the no-prep racing surface, we absolutely never know what’s going to happen. There’s a certain excitement that underlies when combining high horsepower machines and a surface that doesn’t exactly promote traction.
Over the past couple of weeks on the DragCoverage channel, we have watched Shawn Ellington a.k.a. Murder Nova as he has been picking up the pieces as one of his favorite cars has recently been involved in a wreck while testing at Alabama.
Shawn joined Ryan Martin and several others to test in Alabama. During a pass at Alabama International Dragway, his Chevrolet Nova would have an oil line blow off which created quite a mess under the car at high speeds. When the car ran over its own oil, it really lost control, violently swerving around the track. Fortunately, Shawn was able to keep control of the car. However, the car did get into the wall at the top end of the track and scraped the side quite a bit. This is certainly a situation where experience goes a long way. Needless to say, if it wasn’t for the effort of the wheelman here, things could’ve gotten a lot worse.

Shawn said “Everyone says it’s not if, it’s when. I guess yesterday was my turn. Had an oil line blow and got under the tires went for a hell of a ride. Thankfully the chutes got me lined back out and kept the damage minimal. We will go over the car and be ready for Rockingham!”

However, a situation like this is certainly just another bump in the road as pretty much everybody on Street Outlaws seems to have become used to perpetually working on their cars. We are sure that a professional like Ellington will make a quick recovery as he has stated that he will be back in action next weekend at Rockingham No Prep Kings. Let’s wait for him!
