Just a couple of races ago, Kye Kelley found himself in an unexpected predicament. He fell asleep at the starting line, a critical moment for any drag racer. This resulted in him being outrun by Clay Cole. It was a tough blow to his confidence, but Kye Kelley wasn't one to dwell on his setbacks. The very next week, he became overly concerned about the possibility of repeating his mistake, which led to another issue. He reacted too soon to the starting light, "red-lighting" and disqualifying himself before the race even began.

In his own words, Kye realized that he needed to "fix" himself. He recognized that the challenges he faced were more of a mental nature than any mechanical or team-related issues. So, this week, he decided to change his approach. He aimed to have more fun and to free his mind from the pressures of drag racing. As a result, he felt more prepared to get behind the wheel of his race car.
Kye Kelley emphasized that his crew was top-notch, the car was running exceptionally well, and the tuning was on point. The only factor he felt was holding him back was his own performance. He acknowledged that he had been in a situation where he was leading the race but still ended up losing, which highlighted the unpredictable nature of drag racing.

Taking a humble and reflective stance, Kye Kelley admitted that he might have become complacent or overlooked certain aspects of his driving.
