Season 7’s Regular Standings: Murder Nova Dominates

The regular season for No Prep Kings Season 7 wrapped up with an exciting finale, solidifying the final points standings. Topping the list is none other than Murder Nova (Shawn Ellington), who finished the season at number one. Ellington's consistent performance throughout the season earned him the top spot, and it's well deserved. Here’s a rundown of the top racers heading into the next stage of the competition:

These 16 racers will now move forward to the No Prep Elite series, where the competition is set to get even more intense.

Points Reset and Controversy

Now, here’s where things get interesting—and controversial. For the No Prep Elite series, the points will be reset, meaning everyone starts with a clean slate. While this gives every racer in the top 16 a fair shot at the title, some argue that this system takes away from the hard work and consistency racers like Murder Nova showed all season long. In previous years, points carried over, giving the top racers an advantage heading into the final stages.

At Street Outlaws Talks, we can’t help but wonder if this reset will shake things up too much. Many fans and racers believe that someone like Ellington, who dominated throughout Season 7, should carry some advantage into No Prep Elite. After all, he worked hard to maintain that number one spot! It’ll be fascinating to see if the reset levels the playing field or simply creates chaos as everyone vies for the championship.

Lucky Chips and Race Drama

One of the big talking points this season was the role of the Lucky Chip. Since there wasn’t always a full 32-car field, some racers got drawn back into the competition even after losing in earlier rounds. In one particularly notable event, Jui was drawn back in and ended up winning, stirring up some debate over whether this is a fair system. While it certainly makes for dramatic racing, it also left some racers and fans feeling like the system could use tweaking.

Interestingly, Murder Nova himself didn’t benefit from a Lucky Chip all season. He managed to stay at the top by winning consistently, even when he lost in the qualifier rounds. Each time he found himself in the losers' bracket, he fought his way back to victory—a testament to his skill and determination. This grit should give him a psychological edge heading into No Prep Elite, even if the points reset puts everyone back on equal footing.

No Prep Elite: What’s Next?

As we move from the regular season into the No Prep Elite series, all eyes are on the top 16 racers. There’s talk that the Elite series will follow a ladder format, where the racers will be seeded based on their final regular-season standings. This could give someone like Murder Nova a slight advantage, but we’ll have to wait and see how it all plays out.

Another wrinkle in the Elite series is the introduction of double points and points-and-a-half events, which could make or break a racer’s shot at the title. If these multipliers are in place for the Elite playoffs, it’s possible for even lower-ranked racers like Chris Rankin (#16) to make a run for the championship. The introduction of such high-stakes points battles certainly adds excitement, but it also means that consistency throughout the regular season may not count for as much as fans might expect.

Every Racer Has a Chance

Despite the reset, what makes this upcoming phase of racing so thrilling is the fact that any one of the top 16 racers could walk away with the championship. Yes, even the 16th spot—Chris Rankin—could potentially take the title under the new system. This might feel like a long shot, but it means no one can rest easy, and every race will count.

At Street Outlaws Talks, we know one thing for sure: the next few races will be absolutely critical. Each driver will be fighting tooth and nail to earn every possible point, knowing that one slip-up could cost them the entire season.
